Matworks GmbH

Materials Engineering and Machine Learning Solutions Partner

The Company

Matworks GmbH was founded in 1999 by Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schneider as the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Materials Engineering at Aalen University, and was headed by Dr. Alwin Nagel beginning the following year.

Since 2013, we have been operating as an independent company within the Steinbeis network, now under the leadership of Dr. Timo Bernthaler. Our close ties to the university remain important to Matworks.

By »Materials Engineering and Machine Learning Solutions« we mean taking a holistic approach to our clients’ challenges, offering pragmatic, sustainable, and—especially with regard to ML—transparent solutions, and implementing them with a solid scientific foundation. Materials engineering and technology development are just as important to us as treating our clients, employees, and the environment with respect.

The Team of Experts

Our dedicated team consists of experienced professionals from interdisciplinary fields such as materialography, materials testing, surface and materials engineering, materials science, software technologies, and artificial intelligence.

We are distinguished by a solid foundation in materials science and engineering, as well as in-depth knowledge of materials manufacturing, processing, and process engineering – particularly powder processing technologies.

As experts in microscopy – both automated and AI-supported – the implementation of automated microscopic measurement procedures has become one of our core businesses. We apply these interdisciplinary unique selling points to current areas of focus:

  • soft and hard magnetic materials for electrical machines
  • battery technologies
  • microstructural and damage analyses of structural materials (steel, non-ferrous metals)
  • powder technology-based material production
  • characterization of microelectronic components
  • machine learning and deep learning for automated and quantitative microscopy

consistently.

Maintaining close ties to research is very important to us, which is why we always strive to consistently apply current trends and the latest research findings to practical applications.

We are distinguished by our high level of flexibility – both in terms of capacitya and subject matter – when it comes to questions in materials science, materials engineering, and AI – please feel free to contact us.
